June 16-19, 2008 Extension Youth Conference - Ambassador Elections

We are the North Dakota State 4-H Ambassadors! Our team consists of young adults from across North Dakota who are actively involved in 4-H. The Ambassadors coordinate many activities which involve teaching youth and adults about topics such as leadership, team work, citizenship, and much more. We look forward to sharing our knowledge, skills, talents and resources with 4-Hers across North Dakota.

As North Dakota 4-H Ambassadors, we specialize in planning and facilitating 4-H events such as the annual statewide 4-H Extension Youth Conference, workshops, training sessions, regional events, and countless other activities. We strive to create events that are fun, educational, skill building, and promote self-improvement, and we endeavor to be active volunteers for 4-H programs in every county of North Dakota.

Please feel free to contact a 4-H Ambassador in your area, or one who specializes in a specific project area. If you have questions or would like to request our services, please call 701-231-7251 or email us at the Center for 4-H NDSU.4-H@ndsu.edu We hope to hear from you soon!

What is the North Dakota 4-H Ambassador Program and what do they do? The Ambassadors are a group of young adults ages 16 to 22 who work to help North Dakota 4-H. The Ambassadors do many things. Here is a list of the duties projects of the Ambassadors set forth in the Constitution of the North Dakota 4-H Ambassadors, Article II, Section I.

  1. Enhance and promote the North Dakota 4-H Youth program with state and county Extension staff and 4-H volunteers.
  2. Assist in the planning of statewide 4-H volunteers.
  3. Improve the 4-H youth program through promoting leadership.
  4. Act as an advisor for 4-H youth ideas and concerns.
  5. Create awareness of opportunities for older youth in 4-H.
  6. Promote 4-H and 4-H Ambassadors to all people.
  7. Assist in the organization and operation of county youth/adult councils.
  8. Inform older 4-H youth of current leadership methods.
  9. Plan and conduct workshops for older youth in accordance with interest and needs.
  10. Assist in the planning and organizing of the North Dakota State Extension Youth Conference, and other state functions.
  11. Provide 4-H Ambassadors as resource people throughout the state by county or individual request.

Whew! That seems like a lot of work! What it doesn't say is that all of that work is worth it. There are many different activities within the Ambassador program, including working at the North Dakota State Fair, organizing and presenting the ND State Extension Youth Conference, playing games, learning about yourself and those around you, volunteering, attending planning retreats, traveling, and much more. You will make many new friends and renew some old friendships. Most of all, you will be having fun while learning and experiencing new things and taking advantage of new opportunities while working for the common cause of North Dakota   4-H.
