  1. 4-H Website- Brad and Sue Hendrickson are working on developing a webpage for staff,
    volunteers, members to give input to changes on policy. Meeting minutes will also be posted
    there.
     Webpage to be developed by May 1, 2005.
     

  2. 4-H age to 7 – Brad has not officially heard from Karin Bartoszuk on her recommendation on
    effects of youth competition at this age group. Rachelle asked the question, “Is this an issue
    of lack of curriculum or competition?”  Karen recommended we get information from Karin B.
    and take her recommendation and leave 4-H age. Brad to get Karin B. recommendation in
    writing and share with committee.
    Cindy stated she felt that some youth age 7 are bored and
    ready to move to competition. We currently have the Cloverbuds that are age 5-7.  Stanna
    stated that Pathways and Learnabout curriculum could be used as a resource for this age group.
     

  3. State Fleet 15 passenger vans – a meeting with Paul Feyereisen will be held in June. After
    legislative session, Paul will share update with POP and Extension Leadership Team.  The
    following were identified as attending this meeting: Mike Hanson, Gerald Sturn, Juanita B. 
    Brad to inform them of meeting time and details.
     

  4. Dress Code – If changes are to be made for the next 4-H year (Sept. 1, 2005) committee
    needs to make proposals now. It was determined the County Extension Agents are responsible
    for enforcing (clover cop) of their own counties youth participants at all judging events.
    A sample
    board needs to be made and displayed at State Fair registration tables showing good pinned on
    chevron vs. bad pinned on chevron, good judging 4-H shirts vs. bad 4-H judging shirts.  Brad and
    Stanna to work on examples. Registration materials are to include the new dress code guidelines. 
    Brad and Cindy will review the wording of “securely fastened” and share revised document with
    committee for approval. Updated document will then need to be shared with county staff. 
     

  5. Livestock Committee Update by Rick S.

    1. Should 2nd place teams be able to judge at State Contest? Rick’s committee was split
      50/50, however decided to leave rule same as last year. Currently no 2nd place team can
      judge at a State Contest, thus can not be eligible for National trip. Tabled until Julie H.
      committee meeting. Recommendation to come to July meeting.

    2. Change Judging Season - Rick’s committee decided to leave dates the same as last year
      for the 2005-06 season at Valley City Winter Show. 
      Dean Aakre, Julie H. Matt Benz, Mike
      Ostlie to meet with FFA to discuss their goals and determine if we should make changes for
      2007. They will bring back information and recommendation to July meeting.

    3. Lease Agreements – Dean Aakre and Bill Klein are designing a form for 2005-06 season.
      Need rough draft and pilot site by July meeting.

    4. Docking Rule - Rick will develop an educational tool for Minot State Fair that would show
      the benefits of the current ¼” docking rule. 
       

  6. Livestock EthicsBrad to share curriculum pilot results at next meeting.
     

  7. Consumer Choice Age – discussed giving the Consumer Choice youth the opportunity to choose
    between the Preteen or Teen level for competition. It was determined to follow the National age
    rule on all competitions. This varies per competition.
    Rachelle/Brad/Dean to compile a list of ages
    for each and bring to the next meeting.

     

  8. Julie H. Committee Update – Need to prioritize funding resources. Julie to get Dean to provide
    Program Action Council document. Julie to share at next meeting.
     

  9. Cell phone – Need to inform participants and judges that cell phone usage during judging events
    is prohibited. 
    Stanna to make “Courtesy signs” for State Fair events. County and State registration
    materials should include that cell phones are prohibited during contest
    Stanna to put article in
    ShopTalk.

     

  10. Animal Science Class 114- Brad to research if participants are eligible to compete at National
    events if they take this class.
     

  11. Review general rules that govern 4-H Contest activities Brad to email attachment to
    committee.
     

  12. Contractual agreements/memorandums- Jackie and Linda Hauge to bring recommendation to next
    meeting.
     

  13. Crop JudgingJackie to get information from Dean Aakre on crop judging and share at next
    meeting.
     

  14. Position Descriptions – Rachelle review and bring draft or recommendation to next meeting.
