Old Business:
Terms of the members was discussed and clarified.
Consumer Choices Contest age divisions. The
board supports the new age categories as
proposed. The board supports the optional choices for youth whose age fits
choosing
between the two contest age categories. (Information from the survey of
staff is inconsistent
with what the Consumer Choices Committee recommended to us and the committee
is now
also divided.)
Livestock. (January 4, 2005 sub-committee report)
Lease agreements. No action other than
research what other states do. Group will report at
future meeting.
Tagging. Referred to livestock for a future meeting.
Aerosols. 4-H not take a position, no follow-up required.
State Contest competition in following year.
Team members that participate at a ‘national’
competitive judging event are not eligible to participate in a state judging
contest in a
subsequent year. This item referred back to Livestock policy sub-committee
and are asked to
solicit feedback from youth who were previous participants.
Docking rule. An educational program should be
conducted about this. Data collection should be
done a state fair. (Has it already been done?) Rick Schmidt mentioned the
lamb sale dates and
tracking. The sub-committee will monitor this agenda issue.
Livestock Ethics curriculum. Committee
supports moving ahead with the training in pilot locations.
Questions about the intended audience for the training. Agents would like to
review curriculum for
applicability on North Dakota.

Enrollment form. The board reviewed the suggestion of having the enrollment form integrated into the
4-H Family Guide. Consensus was that the form should not be integrated into the family guide since a
distinction between application to be a leader and certification of a leader must be maintained for
Youth Protection Policy considerations.
The meeting was adjourned due to time limitations.
