Directions:

Cut out the back board 6 1/2" long and sand edges. Paint or stain as desired.

Using the full size pattern, trace Pecky's body onto the remaining board. Mark out the side blocks along one edge. Cut out all three pieces and sand.

Mark and drill nail hinge or pivot holes in the side blocks and through the bird shape. Make sure they all line up and are slightly larger than the nail so Pecky can pivot on the nail.

Drill a 1/4" hole for the cord through the back board. Clamp the board securely to a table and use a chisel to make a channel from the hole to the bottom edge of the board large enough to hold the cord.

Paint or stain the bird and the side blocks. If using paint, you may want to use two coats. You could also finish the bird using a woodburning tool and a stain or clear finish. Use your imagination!

Attach the side blocks to the back board. Attach the pull cord to Pecky's breast, through the back board and down the channel on the back. Drive a long nail through the two side block and through the bird.
