Citizenship for Individual and Community Involvement - Resource
Packet (AB300). The packet includes resources for learning about family and
community by collecting information through the library, field trips, games
and activities for ages 12 and up (grades 7 and up).
Being A Star in My Community, Country and World - Resource Packet
(AB305). Four lesson plans including games, craft ideas, activities, songs
and handouts for youth ages 8 to 12 (grades 3 to 7) to learn about being a
good citizen and how to respect symbols of our state and nation. Designed for
use for 30 minutes or 4 hours of learning.
Many Faces, One People: A Multi-Cultural Training Guide - Resource
Packet (AC310). Choose one or more of the seven lessons filled with
activities and discussion about stereotypes, bias and prejudice. Where do
these attitudes and actions begin, how they affect us and how we can deal with
them. For ages 9 to adult (grades 4 to adult).
Global Citizenship - Resource Packet (AD320). Use these roll call
ideas, readings and lesson plans for youth ages 10-18 (grades 5 and up) to
learn about other cultures, develop a public presentation or to teach others.
Perfect Fit
- Understanding Disabilities
Resource Packet (AF325). The lesson plan includes many activities for youth
to understand the challenges a young person with disability experiences. Use
1-3 lessons for youth ages 8 to 12 (grades 3 to 7).
Blue Sky Adventures - Weather Resource Packet (DBB300). A series of
activities on weather designed for day camp and after school programs.
Friends Who Care - National Easter Seals Society (AF326). Choose
one focus or many activities from a lesson plan designed for youth ages 8-16
(grades 3-11). Youth experience what it means and how it feels to be a young
person with a physical, developmental or learning disability. The packet
includes excellent videos, posters, work sheets and activities for each of the
six lessons.
In 1988, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation awarded a grant to the Michigan State
University 4-H Youth programs to develop a program that would help young
people better prepare for the future. The result of this effort is SPACES:
Preparing Kids for a High Tech and Global Future, an initiative that helps
early adolescents (kids age 9-15) meet the complex and changing need of their
world. SPACES focuses on three key areas:
- Outer Space - Discovering the explorer in me, discovering the scientist
in me, discovering the inventor in me.
- Inner Space - Getting to know more about me, interacting with others,
coping with the changes in my life;
- Shared Space - Similarities and differences of the earth's peoples;
food, shelter and clothing of the earth's peoples; our common Earth (ecology
and relationships); learning how space is shared.
Talking with TJ is an exciting educational program designed to improve
the teamwork and conflict resolution skills of second through fourth graders.
The program teaches skills children will use throughout their lives. It
encourages children to work and play together in caring and cooperative ways.
The program combines education and entertainment into two series of high-quality
video stories and fun opportunities to practice new skills.
Teamwork: The Teamwork series offers a unique approach to teaching children
about cooperation and teamwork. It is designed to help children learn skills in
planning, cooperating and appreciating differences.
Conflict Resolution: The Conflict Resolution series is designed to teach
children skills in managing anger and choosing alternatives to violence,
respecting different points of view when trying to resolve a problem and using
friendly words, rather than fighting words, to communicate feelings and ideas.

Learnabouts
- Club
Study For 8-10 Years Old
Learnabouts is for beginners in grades 3 through
5. The program is designed to give youth a broad exposure to
a variety of interests and 4-H projects. The series consists
of 43 lessons. Volunteer leaders, in cooperation with youth
and parents, select eight to ten lessons to use for the club
study portion of their meeting. Volunteers order the
materials through their local Extension office, and youth
will receive copies on the topic for each activity during
the year.

The 4-H Pathways to Adventure program is designed
as a group study for youth in grades 6 and 7. The unit
consists of 32 lessons on a variety of topics. Leaders, in
cooperation with youth and parents, select eight to ten
lessons to use for the club study portion of the meetings.

Cloverbuds - Introductory 4-H
Project
The Cloverbud program is a noncompetitive program designed for boys and girls
ages 5-7 (grades K-2). It is planned to provide "learning by doing" experiences
for participants in-and out-of-school, and in informal group situations.
Cloverbuds develop new interests and gain new experiences as they participate in
a program designed to provide them opportunities to learn to get along with
others and build self-confidence. Participants are not a part of the organized
4-H Club program.
Participants receive a member's book to record things they discover about
themselves and a Cloverbud button. Volunteers, youth and parents select lessons
of interest to the members to use in meetings. Cloverbuds can progress into an
organized 4-H club when they are eight years old by September 1 or in the third
grade.

Arts and Crafts - A
Palette of Fun (BC201) (4HCCS)
Children's art activities helper's guide for use with
children grades K-6.
Youth
will have many artistic experiences with A Palette of
Fun with Arts and Crafts: A Helper's Guide for
Children's Art Activities. All activities focus on
teaching the elements and principles of art and
developing skills for a lifetime. Children will learn
art through cutting and pasting, painting, sculpting,
drawing, print-making, construction with fiber and
other materials. A Palette of Fun connects the art
experience with careers, culture, science, technology
and more. This 342 page Helper's Guide can be used
with groups of children in any setting, in and out of
school.
Communications Toolkit
This
curriculum is designed for youth ages 12 and up, but
many activities can be easily adapted for use with
younger children. The Toolkit includes information,
activities and resources that help youth build skills
in vocal expression, public speaking, video, media
relations, graphic design and writing.
Down
to Earth - Classroom Gardening (Educator Guide)

This
curriculum resource is designed for teachers or other
youth educators. It is used with youth in grades 4
through 6 as school enrichment, with organized 4-H
clubs, after school programs, nature centers, summer
youth camps and other youth educational programs. It
is designed to use gardening to explore plant growth
and development using the hands-on, minds-on programs.
Youth learn the basics of botany and gardening, the
essentials of ecology and much more.
Youth
will use gardening to stimulate their senses and
cultivate science process and life skills. By
gathering data via the scientific method, youth feel a
sense of pride and responsibility.
Embryology in the Classroom
Egg-splore
the science of embryology from egg to chicken. This
new school-based curriculum is designed for two
levels. Both levels are correlated to the national
science standards. Both levels include student sheets,
color posters and interactive web-based curriculum
experiences. Students and teachers alike will find
this curriculum both egg-citing and egg-sperimental.

The first
level curriculum is designed for students in grades 2
through 5. It explores embryology from incubation to
hatching.
Embryology 2 (HBH202) (4HCCS)
The second level is for
students in grades 6 through 8. It incorporates
several experiments and focuses on reinforcing the
scientific method.
Gifts

Cloverbud Curriculum for
use by adult or youth leaders for youth in grades K-2.
Corn is the gift of gold.
Through learning about one common, international food
youth will explore agriculture, literacy, nutrition,
diversity, science, art, communications and
horticulture. Each of the five lessons unfolds easily
to teach enjoyable activities about people, their
foods, agricultural sciences, songs and stories. The
curriculum is informative and fun for children. Family
CORN'ers complement the curriculum so that kids and
parents can participate in additional learning
experiences at home. This curriculum is designed to
meet the needs of children in a variety of situations
and surroundings.
The
curriculum package consists of three lesson booklets
for the leader/parent, each containing 11 or 12
lessons. Each booklet also contains take-home pages

include those personal characteristics, abilities
and competencies relate to creativity, initiative,
problem solving, flexibility and adaptability.
WOW! Wild Over Work (WOW) (FA201)(4HCCS)
The Wild Over Work Curriculum is designed to help
volunteers and leaders introduce youth in grades K-6
to the skills and behaviors which will be needed in
the workforce of the future. The curriculum consists
of hands-on experiential activities in career
exploration and skill development. The 100 pages in
the Helper's Guide packet contain background
information for the helper and developmentally
appropriate activities for youth. The guide is
organized around four related themes: Work Around Me
- Work in My Community -Work Around the World - and
Work in My Future. WOW materials are available on
loan through the county Extension offices.
It's a Big World Out There (FA202)
It's a Big World Out there curriculum is designed
as a workshop to introduce parents, guardians/caring
adults to how they can begin to help the young
people they work with to prepare for the future. A
copy of the curriculum will be available in each
