2009 Study Guides will be available through your Extension Office.

Training Workshop

 

  • Learn the basics of how to do consumer choices judging at this workshop. 

  • Youth will have an opportunity to practice judging classes and giving oral reasons.

  • No pre-registration necessary.

2009 Consumer Choices Judging Contest

 

When:  Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Time:  10:00 am - 8:00 pm

             Come & Go Judging - must be present by 6:00 pm

Where:  Cass County Annex, Fargo

 

Registration Deadline:

Thursday, June 18, 2009

Judging divisions are:

  • Beginner (ages 8 – 10) as of September 1, 2008*

  • Junior (ages 10-13) as of September 1, 2008**

  • Senior (ages 13-18) as of September 1, 2008**

Note: *Ten year olds may choose to participate in either the Beginner Division or the Junior Division.

**Thirteen year olds may choose to participate in either Junior or Senior Division.

State Contest - Thirteen year old contestants who turn 14 before January 1 are eligible to compete in the national contest, if a member of the first place team. Thirteen year old contestants who turn 14 on/after January 1 are not eligible for national contest, and would lose eligibility for future state contests if a member (top three scores) of the first place team.

Awards:

  • All participants will receive a participation award.

  • Top Five Winners named in each age division

  • Top Score recognized in each judging class

 

Top Five Junior & Senior Winners will be eligible to participate in the State Contest at the North Dakota State Fair on Tuesday

afternoon, July 28, 2009.

 

4-H Dress Code Required

 

All 4-H participants/exhibitors must wear a solid white, yellow, gray or green shirt/blouse with a    4-H emblem prominently displayed and securely fastened on the front. 

It is recommended that 4-H members wear dark jeans, slacks, shorts or skirts. 

In an effort to promote a professional appearance by 4-H members, it is recommended that:

  • Shirt or blouse be a solid colored crew neck t-shirt, polo shirt, or Henley-type.

  • The clover can be stitched, silk-screened, fused or securely fastened using a Velcro type fastener or fabric spray adhesive. Visible pins (safety and stick) are not an acceptable method of attachment. If used, they should securely fasten all sides of the chevron/emblem and the pins should be placed on the inside of the garment.

  • 4-H members should NOT wear short shorts or short skirts, tops that are sleeveless, low-cut, or ones that allow the midriff to show.

  • Shirts should be of sufficient length to be tucked into the jeans, slacks, shorts or skirt.
