When:  Saturday, May 15, 2010

Where:  Cass County Annex

Contest Begins:  8:00AM

Registration Deadline: Monday, April 3, 2010

Public Revue and announcement of winners will be held at the Red River Valley Fair on July 25, 2010.

All participants are expected to participate in the Public Revue.

4-H Dress Code Required

 

4-H Dress Code is required during the personal interview judging portion of this contest.

 

All 4-H members participating will be neatly dressed and must wear a solid colored white, yellow, gray or green shirt/blouse with the 4-H emblem prominently displayed and securely fastened on the front. It is recommended that participants wear dark jeans/slacks/skirts.

 

4-H Emblem Patches can be purchased for $1.00 from the office or on judging day.

Sew & Show Category

 

Preteen Division

  1. Clothing modeled must be part of a project related to clothing and textiles.

  2. Construct half or more of clothing being modeled. For example: a simple shirt, blouse, shorts, pants, skirt, jumper, or dress. Items like a scarf or apron are not acceptable.

Teen Division

  1. Clothing constructed MUST be made as part of a clothing and textiles related project in which the member is enrolled.

  2. Construct the MAJOR PART of clothing being modeled. For example: a dress, shirt/blouse and pants, skirts/pants and vest (shirt/blouse can be purchased.)

  3. Clothing must be appropriate for modeling in a public revue. NOTE: Sleep wear is not acceptable for the teen division.

Preteen Division

  1. Purchase or recycle a major item of clothing.

  2. Item should be appropriate for modeling in a public revue.

  3. Open to youth enrolled in:

w Learnabouts

w Clothing Decisions, Unit 1 (6-7 grade)

w Other clothing related projects

 

Teen Division

  1. Open to youth in clothing Decisions

  2. Purchase or recycle a major item of clothing.

  3. Item should be appropriate for modeling in a public revue.

Decorate Your Duds Category

  • Youth must be enrolled in Decorate Your Duds.

  • Open to all youth including Cloverbuds.

  • There is an Accessory Division and a Garment Division.

  • You can enter in both divisions if you wish.

Decorate Your Duds is an EMBELLISHMENT OF A PIECE OF CLOTHING OR ACCESSORY. It can be done on a purchased or constructed garment or accessory, but what is being judged is the embellishment technique not the construction of the garment or accessory.

 

Embellishment ideas are ribbon weaving, ribbon embroidery on a beret, vest with ultra suede patches, blouse with lace doilies & buttons, decorative machine stitching, cutwork, yo-yo's, appliques, fabric painting, etc. Accessories that could be embellished are hats, belts, shoes, scarves, totes, purses, etc.
