Safety, Responsibility and Shooting Sports The 4-H Shooting Sports Program will teach youth how to safely be involved in a shooting activity, The 4-H Shooting Sports Program helps youth understand and promote the safe, responsible, and ethical use of firearms under the direction of certified shooting sports instructors. This program is offered by the Cass County 4-H Youth Development Program of the NDSU Extension Service. |

Youth Archery
(Four Week Training Series)
A hands-on training series in youth archery. Archery is one of the shooting sports disciplines in the Outdoor Skills Program offered by the Cass County 4-H Youth Development Program of the NDSU Extension Service. This training will introduce you to the sport of archery. This program is valuable in helping young people develop self-confidence, personal discipline, responsibility, teamwork, self-esteem and sportsmanship. The discipline and self-control required carries over into many other aspects of life. Certified archery instructors will be conducting the training.
Beginning Archery
This beginning level class is for youth ages 9 & older with little or no experience in archery or formal training. You will learn basic rules of safety, proper equipment selection and care, and beginning shooting techniques.
Intermediate/Advanced Archery
This class is for youth ages 9 & older who have completed the beginning archery class. This training will focus on improving archery skills, introduce youth to competitive shooting and the Junior Olympic Archery Development Program.

Archery
Who Can Attend: All Youth, ages 9 and up - Sign Up A Friend! - Parents are Welcome to Attend.
Limited Enrollment: Six Per Beginner Session; Nine Per Intermediate and Advanced Session
Cost: $16 per four week session (Payable to Cass County 4-H)
Location: Lake Agassiz Bowmen Range, Metro Rec Center, 3110 Main, Fargo
Equipment: Equipment will be provided. If you have your own, you can bring it.
The Cass County 4-H Shooting Sports Program will host the JOAD Archery Tournament in April 2009 for 4-H at the Lake Agazziz Bowman Archery Club, 3110 Main Ave, Fargo, ND. The tournament date will be announced soon. We will follow the JOAD Scoring Rules & Classifications. Standard Vegas or 3 Spot targets will be used. All shooters must be 4-H members or have gone through 4-H Shooting Sports Program Training.

Air Rifle (4 week series)
This beginning level class is for youth ages 8 & older. You will practice proper shooting techniques, safety rules, range procedures, marksmanship skills and more. The first and most important things you will learn and practice are the techniques of safe gun handling. Equipment is supplied. A parent/guardian is strongly encouraged to attend. Certified instructors will be conducting the training. Class sizes are limited.
Cost: $16.00 (make checks payable to Cass County 4-H)

Black Powder (3 week series)
Proper loading, firing techniques, the different parts of muzzle loading firearms, taking care of your gun, safety and range discipline will be covered during this training series. A parent or guardian is strongly encouraged to attend with youth If you have your own gun, please bring it, but it is not required. Class sizes are limited.

This program is designed to teach the fundamentals of safe and successful shotgun shooting. Shotgun knowledge, the basics of shotgun safety and proper shotgun shooting form, and trapshoot are taught. A parent or guardian is strongly encouraged to attend with youth. If you have your own gun, please bring it, but it is not required. Class sizes are limited.
