4-H Mission

4-H Youth Development education creates supportive learning environments for all youth and adults to reach their fullest potential as capable, competent and caring citizens. 4-H programs are organized and conducted in communities by adult volunteers and supported by cooperating counties, North Dakota State University, USDA and private sources. 4-H programs are offered to all people without regard to race, creed, color, handicap, sex or national origin.

 

General Rules

Exhibitor/Exhibit Requirements

 

The rules in the 4-H exhibit list apply to the 4-H events at the Red River Valley Fair. These rules supersede other rules that may be printed in project manuals or are otherwise assumed. Show management has the right to make decisions regarding the operation of a show as needed.

 

1.       The 4-H Department is open to all youth in North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota subject to the rules, classes and entry dates listed herein.

2.  The Red River Valley Fair Association assumes no responsibility other than that stated in these rules, for the conduct/welfare of the 4-H exhibitors and contestants. This is the duty of parents, club leaders and individual 4-H exhibitors. The fair cannot be held responsible for stolen or lost articles.

3.  All exhibits must be made or prepared by the 4-H member enrolled in that 4-H project during the current 4-H Club Year. Exhibits should reflect the age of the member and the number of years enrolled in a project.

4.  4-Her's may enter a maximum of two entries per class with a limit of one entry per lot unless stated otherwise under that specific class.

5.  Lots with an asterisk (*) will not be taken to State Fair.

6.  Important: Exhibit tags will be attached to your exhibit at the time you are being conference judged. However, all pieces of an exhibit must be labeled before exhibit day with name, address, and club in the event that the exhibit tag becomes detached.

7.  Absentee Exhibitor: 4-H youth who are unable to attend interview judging on Wednesday, June 11 need to obtain an Absentee Exhibitor’s form from the Cass County Extension Office at 241-5700 or the 4-H website: http://www.ext.nodak.edu/county/cass/fourh.htm. The form MUST be completed by the youth (not parent) and signed by their 4-H leader. One form is needed for each item exhibited. If your project does not include this form, you will be dropped a ribbon placing.

      If ages 5-7, ask for the Cloverbud Absentee form. Parents are allowed to complete Cloverbud Absentee Forms.

8.   Award Eligibility for Absentee Exhibitors: Absentee exhibitors will be eligible for grand and reserve champion ribbons if the appropriate paperwork is filled out and with the exhibit. The judge will have the discretion to select the champion placement. If all other factors are equal, the preference will be given to the exhibit with the quality interview.

9.  Ribbons:

      ? Youth will be awarded blue, red or white ribbons.

      ? RRVF Overall Grand & Reserve Champions and Honorable Mention ribbons will awarded in each class.

      ? Cass County Grand & Reserve champion ribbons will be awarded in each class.

10. Premiums in the 4-H Building will be $3.00--blue, $2.00--red, and $1.00--white ribbon placing and a $1.50 for Cloverbuds.

      Sponsored Premiums: Overall Cass County Best of Show cash awards and certificates will be awarded:  $25.00 – First Place, and $15.00 – Second Place.

      4-H Horse Show Premiums: $4.00—blue, $3.00—red, $2.00—white.

11.  Premium checks will be released along with the exhibits on release day of exhibits.
