Fair Etiquette Guidelines

 

Stall Decorating & Maintaining Stalls Contest

 

Are you interested in joining in on the excitement of the Red River Valley Fair?

Let's decorate our stalls for the Fair!

 

Lot # 1490 – Register on the 4-H Horse Show Registration Form - $5.00 Premium

To be eligible for the contest, 4-H member's horse must be in their stalls by 8:00PM on Monday, July 13, and your horse may not leave until Thursday, July 16 after 3:00PM.

  • Judging will be ongoing from Wednesday through Thursday. Stalls will be judged individually.
  • Stalls will be judged on presentation. Go Wild! Be Creative! (Just putting up a poster is not decorating.) Themes are encouraged!
  • Stalls must be cleaned periodically, and the aisle/entryway by your stall must also be maintained.
  • Horses should have enough bedding, water, and feed, as well as be clean and well maintained. Only one  horse per stall. 
  • Horses should be well-mannered enough to be left periodically.
  • 4-H’ers who have parents/adults helping clean and sweep will be penalized; however, 4-H’ers helping each other maintain the facility is encouraged.
  • Tack stalls may be requested if at least 3 exhibitors with at least 3 horses are sharing (Please indicate who you will be sharing with.) That stall must also be decorated.
  • Loud noise is not permitted. Be aware there is limited electricity.

4-H’ers who sign up for the stall contest, decorate their stalls, and keep their horses for the full time, will receive free stalling for this event, provided they follow the above guidelines. 

Stalls will be reserved on a first come first served basis. Horses must be signed up for the decorating contest by the deadline of Friday, June 19.

Stalls cleaned: All stalls must be cleaned to the bare ground at the time of check out.

If you come and do not have stalls decorated, you will be charged $20.00 for the stall.
