HINTS for Members Applying for Awards and Scholarships

*An application form is required for the following awards...

1) Project Pins and Awards and 2) Project Area Achievement Awards

These awards are for "outstanding project achievement". That means you can show evidence in your project records of a lot of work and effort put into the project. If you have made one project exhibit for the fair, received a blue ribbon, and show no evidence of more project work or growth in your records during the whole year, you will probably not be considered for the award.

To be considered for these awards, you might include the following in your project records: Show how youve shared what youve learned in your project with others, such as presenting a speech, demonstration or tabletop exhibit in a county event; show evidence of the several hours youve put into your project work by recording items made or work done; record the new things youve learned from a new project youve enrolled in or ways youve challenged yourself to grow and expand your knowledge as youve continued in the same project from last year.

3) Outstanding Participation Awards

These awards are for recognition of 4-Hers who have participated in 4-H projects and in 4-H events and activities during the current year. Evidence of your participation and work in the project areas should be recorded in your project records, and your event and activity participation should be recorded in your "4-H Member Participation Record", which is part of your record keeping booklets.

4) Outstanding Member Recognition

These awards are for outstanding overall participation and achievement in the 4-H program by a 4-H member. Evidence of a members participation and achievement is provided by the 4-H record keeping booklets as specified in the eligibility criteria for each of the individual awards. A special application form is required for all representative 4-H member awards, except for the Representative First Year Member Award.

*No Application forms are required for the following awards....

5) 4-H Program Completion Awards

These awards do not have any application forms, but please check these awards on the "Request for 4-H Award Application Forms" so your club leaders and the 4-H office staff will know to check your membership records to confirm and verify the number of years of 4-H that youve actually completed in the county 4-H program.
