North Dakota Horse Park Invitation….This summer the North Dakota Horse Park will celebrate their 5th Anniversary. A celebration is planned for Thursday, July 26. They are extending an invitation to area horse clubs and groups to participate in a parade and festivities.  It will have a later afternoon start, perhaps 4:00 or 5:00 p.m., and is a free admission event.

2007-2009 NDSU Extension Service Request…4-H… I ask that you please look over the enclosed sheet, which will be presented to the legislature for their consideration.

Aerospace Event…..It’s back! After a year absence the ND 4-H Foundation and UND Department of Aerospace Science will once again be sponsoring the Aerospace Program on April 15-16, 2007 at the University of ND in Grand Forks. This program is open to all (they do not have to be 4-H members) youth ages 12-15 who are interested in the field of aerospace science. Youth must be accompanied by a chaperone. The registration fee for both youth and adults will be $30. This fee includes materials, lodging, Sunday evening meal and a snack. Monday morning’s continental breakfast will be available at the motel. Registration is limited to 100 youth and will be taken on a first come-first served basis. An enclosed brochure offers you more information.

North Dakota State Fair 4-H Exhibit List…..Numerous changes have been made by the state staff to the exhibit list.  There is more information on the enclosed sheet.

North Dakota Earth Day Patch Contest…..In an effort to foster a cleaner state, the North Dakota Game and Fish Department is sponsoring a contest to design a North Dakota Earth Day patch. Three winners will be chosen from three age categories which are 6-9, 10-13, and 14-18 years of age. The grand prize patch design will be chosen from the three winning designs from each age category. For more information go to the 4-H SSP web site http://www.ext.nodak.edu/4h/programs/shooting_main.htm

Winter Show Tickets…..This year there will not be rodeo tickets for 4-H participants and chaperones.  Instead the Winter Show is offering a $5 off coupon. The coupon will be good for a discount on either the Friday night concert of Sawyer Brown or the Saturday performances of the rodeo. Sawyer Brown tickets cost $25 in advance or $30 the ay of the show. Rodeo tickets cost $15.

The $5 off coupon will apply to tickets purchased in advance, but they MUST be ordered through our office. ONE order will be sent in on February 23 if you are interested in the reduced tickets, contact our office.

4-H Dog and Cat Pet Projects…..For the 2007 4-H Achievement Days, 4-H members will not bring their dog or cat for the interview judging process. The reason for this change is the safety of the dog or cat.  Judging requirements for these projects will be as follows:

- The project books must be totally completed.

- Members will be judged on their knowledge concerning the care and cost of their pet.

- Veterinary records must accompany your project book.

- A picture of your pet is allowed and would be a nice addition.

“Student project loan”…..The Portland Credit Union is proud to announce, they will be initiating a loan program for student members. These loans are designed to help our youth in their ongoing projects or to help start new projects, which will in turn be teaching basic finance (how to apply for loans, budget payments, and balance checking accounts). Questions: Contact Mr. Meyer at Portland Credit Union 788-3025.

Club Minutes Required…..Please remember that all 4-H members must attend a minimum of six club meetings to exhibit at the 4-H Achievement Days in July.  I have received minutes from the Flying Peppers for November, December, January and from The Lakers for October & December.

This is your newsletter……if you would like to share something with the other clubs please give it to Laurie so she can include it in the next letter.
