Note:  Collections might be cancelled due to rain or postponed due to wet conditions.  Under wet conditions the insects are not as active and it is damaging to sweep nets.  So be sure to check with the Extension office the morning to make sure of the time and place collections will occur.  
    Sweep nets and transportation bags are available. We also have a few sweep nets for sale at $35.00.  Bring a cooler to transfer the insects to the new release site. These insects will transport better if they are kept cool. Try to avoid ice since it could melt and drown the insects prior to release. The re-freezable packages have worked the best. These collection areas have a lot of wood ticks so bring along mosquito repellant. For those people who are unable to make any of these collection days, contact the Extension office by telephone (797-3312) or by e-mail and we will try and make other arrangements to obtain insects.  There are going to be more collection days planned through the end of June and first two weeks of July.
