Howdy!!!

I don’t know about you but it sure got cold this past week.  I figured something was going to happen with the beautiful November we had up to this cold spell.  We had our Ranchers Nite Out this past Thursday and served 94 producers.  It was a fun night as fellow agents from Towner, Benson, Cavalier, Rolette, Nelson along with our District Director all joined forces to cook Rocky Mountain Oysters and Chili for this group.  I am very blessed to have fellow agents that work together like that.  Now as we look forward to the New Year, we have many programming events coming up like Round Up, Marketing meeting in February, a corn meeting in February and a Horticulture Saturday in March.  There are also many other meetings but too many to mention, I will however keep you posted of meetings as they come along.

As I write about the group working together makes me think of the Invitational basketball tournament held in Devils Lake last weekend.  My hats off to the Adams-Edmore girl’s basketball team, for winning the tournament.  I was told after the game that they were ranked last in the tournament but managed to play together, as a team, and pull out the end result.  Congratulations.  I can remember many years ago, playing a team from Cando, how our Edmore team pulled out a last second effort against a team that had not lost a game, as I remember.  Because we worked as a team and not an “I” we were able to do something no one else had done even with me playing on the team.  I never was much of a basketball player but did rebound very well, imagine that.

My whole intention of this article is to remind everyone of our everyday lives.  We do many activities as an “I” but as we get closer to x-mas, the “we’s” start pulling together for a really fun holiday season.  The same goes for the farm family, rancher, horticulturist business person, Devils Lake Hockey or even in Extension, we all start pulling together to put together another successful season for the all of you.  We offer many educational meetings to enhance all of your lives and hopefully a profitable outcome.  Our bottom line, in Extension, is to provide you with skills that enhance your everyday activities.
