Howdy!!!!
Well what weather again this past week and weekend. First off the hea,t and
then the violent storms that passed through the lake region area this past week
and weekend. I have heard reports of up to 1.5 inches of rain in the area with
some small pea sized hail. No damage to report that I am aware of, good news.
This past weekend I got my first opportunity to get to the water fishing and
what fun that was. My two boys took dad fishing and like usual they do the work
while I fish. There have been many times when I have not thought to highly of
my kids, when they misbehave, but the rewards are always worth the wait. We
also got to spend some relaxing time at the lake with all family even the new to
be son-in-law made it for a while.
It is really a lot of fun driving around and looking at everyone’s beautiful yard work. The greenhouse’s in town had an outstanding supply of very beautiful plants that made it out to most yards. Great Job everyone.
Tomatoes???
It was brought to my attention this past weekend that I should visit a
little about placing grass trimmings around your tomato plants. This is a very
good idea but remember tomato saving things; DO NOT PLACE GRASS CLIPPINGS
AROUND YOUR TOMATOS’ IF YOU HAVE USED WEED AND FEED THIS SPRING. The
chemical will dispose itself into the grass and carry over into the area you
have placed the trimmings and with that said Tomatoes are very susceptible to
any kind of Herbicide. All they have to do is think there is chemical in the
air and they will show signs of damage. The other thing to remember, do not
place freshly cut grass trimmings around the tomatoes either as some problems
will also arise from the fermenting of the grass and actually cause an acidic
sight around the tomato and also could kill the plant.
