Howdy!!!!!

Well I am back and glad to be home.  It is very different how the different lifestyles are and still live what I would call in the Midwest.  One thing that really caught me off guard was the tipping that was required.  I am used to the average 10% tip but in those areas something considerably more seems to be the norm.  My first cab ride I had ever taken, I offered a tip, and the driver looked at and asked if I would like to walk the rest of the way.  My response to him was, I am already here so why would I walk anywhere other than to my room.

I was in Columbus, Ohio and found out what football country is all about.  The Ohio Buckeyes are the only talk in the town.  They are rated number one in the country but in any rate they are still the only talk in town and with a football stadium like theirs, it is quite obvious.  I got to take a look inside the stadium one day as they were laying new sod, and say a stadium that holds 106,000 people.  As I watched pro football games yesterday and heard attendances of 80,000-90,000 made realize just how big the Ohio stadium is.

Well getting back home was a treat and it did not take me long to get back into the things that I had left, to finish outside.  I have finished my river part of our back yard.  I have just the pond left along with the pump and etc.  My back yard is taking on a different look.  I finished cleaning the garden and have it ready to be tilled with the addition of some cow compost.  We also cleaned all of our flower gardens for the fall and winter season.  Which brings a good reminder to all of us, and that being as prepare for the winter season also remember what next growing season might be like.  In the vegetable garden we need to be reminded of a sound rotation plan to help reduce insect and disease problems from year to year.  Example: planting potatoes on the same ground every year.  With the nice fall season we are having, it is also a good time to be controlling those hard to kill weeds in our yards.  Cool nights and warm days are very conducive to plants getting their winter storage in place.  These pesty plants are trying to absorb all the nutrients possible making a very good time to apply that pesticide.
