Howdy!!!!
It feels like winter is upon us lately, with temps in twenties, but then it is
the end of October. I don’t remember the exact date but sometime early October
last year we had a pretty significant snow come to our area. I do enjoy this
time of year however, the fresh smell in the mornings, the waterfowl making
their journey south, neighbors cleaning their yards, football and even the World
Series. I am a good baseball fan but also like football so making choices
becomes a big task but when the dust settles, the wife’s orders are first and
her choice is for shows like desperate house wives. I kid her, after being
married for 31 years, there should be a show called desperate married men, but
then anyone that can put up with an old geezer like me can’t be all bad. I also
found out this past weekend, that babies messing their pants is still not my
thing. We were babysitting on Friday and the little weasel decided to make one
mighty big mess. Needless to say, along with that comes a sick Grandpa, as I
can not handle such an event and upon completion of the main event I told him as
much. It still is fun having that little weasel over and spoiling does seem to
come into play.
Just a reminder to everyone that still has their yard to clean, before putting any grass clippings in your gardens make sure you did not apply any herbicides that might carry over into the next growing season.
Farmers’ Night Out!!
Just a reminder to all of our Ag producers, in the Lake Region area, that
Farmers’ night out is fast approaching. We have most of the details in order
and the food sounds to be very good again. This will be the 3rd year
of holding this event, with the attendance growing every year. I am suspecting
we should have a full house this year with harvest being nearly complete. We
will have the same venue as before, with the Edmore men’s choir opening the
night followed by introductions from the Chamber. We will have a speaker talk
about the farming sector (about 10-15 minutes) followed by our entertainer. The
night should be a hoot, just like the previous two years.
The night became a reality, after a brainstorming session. The night is to thank the area Ag producers for their contributions to the area businesses. Without their support, many of our businesses would not be in our community. This is our way of saying “THANKS RURAL LAKE REGION”. So mark your calendars for the fun night of Thursday, November 16th beginning at 6 pm.
Ranchers’ Night Out!!!
Ranchers night out is also fast approaching (Thursday, November 30. This will
be held at Lake Region Livestock starting at 6 pm with supper. I have enough
rocky mountain oysters to feed most of North Dakota, so should not run out of
food. Jim and Mary Zeigler are hosting the event at Lake Region Livestock and
provide a great opportunity for cattle producers to meet, eat and learn about
issues dealing with cattle. I will write more later as we get closer the “Main
Event”.
