Howdy!!!
Do you believe it, fall is here. Labor day seems to signify the time of
year so here we are even though the forecast would seem to say that we are still
into the summer months. This past week I have been busy working on a water
falls and fish pond in our back yard. What an experience this has been. Not
only do big rocks get really heavy after days of picking but the fun thing about
this experience is how you become, shall I say hung up, on finding that special
rock. You would be very surprised to see what different colors and styles of
rocks that are found throughout the county and Eddy county. It never ceases to
amaze me on how mothernature could have deposited different rocks in different
parts of the world throughout the ice age. It also amazes me how big rocks,
little rocks and different shaped rocks can be located within miles of each
other that do not have any similarities other than being rocks. Well to make a
long story short my water falls of the project is nearing completing.
Just a reminder, that I will not be in the office the week of September the 25. I will be attending a leadership conference.
Cattle feedout???
Carrington Research Center will be holding a cattle feed out this fall and
winter again. The purpose of the feed out is for producers to supply 6 head of
feeder calves for the purpose of analyzing how well his or her herd is doing and
how well they might be doing to the industry on the average. Carrington
Research does the feeding and vaccination program to insure commonality and then
sell the end product at the same location to insure likely results. Last years
test showed just two lots of cattle with a negative return after the total
investment. The producer is responsible for the total expenses of the feeding
program. To enroll your cattle in the feed out trial please call out office at
701-662-7030 for more information. There is a $25 dollar registration fee for
the group of 6 head and you can enter as many groups as you like.
