Howdy!!!
Well what a week again last week. It seems the older I get the faster the days go by and as far as that goes years go by. It is hard to imagine that I have been here 3 years in September. Maybe that is a sign that I really do enjoy my work and also the fact that I “am” a little older. Last week I had the privilege to tour the Canadian International Grain Institute. It was a wonderful educational setting and our tour guide did an outstanding job of explaining the Canadian grain merchandising industry. There is so much more that goes on behind the scenes of a grain deal to another country that people are not aware of. If you would ever have the opportunity to take a tour like this I would highly recommend it. The harvest is moving along very nicely!!!! “I AM KIDDING”. It is time for mother nature to give us a break and let us get the small grain harvest finished. I know there are a few of you that are done but the general county could use another week of combining weather. Sunday I got to help my youngest son with his harvest and found out that I am not as young as my heart tells me. Jumping up on trucks and up and down grain bins makes for a hurting unit the next day. I am still suffering from the extra exercise. I have been very busy in my back yard and thought I was in all right condition but using those extra muscles has a need for some southing medications. But it was great fun to be able to help out this time of year although our combine group had one of those road experiences like I have mentioned. Driving down the highway and approaching a narrow spot in the road a car, driving about 70 on a county road, was not appreciative of the amount of road we were using. NOT only did they honk their horn, as they were driving down the ditch to get around, they also used body language that said it all. Little did they know there was an approach just a little ahead of us and would have been saver for all of us.
This is also the time of year to get ready for Lake Region Extension RoundUp. If you have any suggestions for this years programs please either call or stop by for your suggestions.
