Howdy!!!!!
Hurray!! you Baltimore Colts fans and too bad for all you Bear Fans. I really did not care who won the Super Bowl; however I did have a soft spot for Coach Dungy. I have always liked his style which started way back with the Vikes. It never ceases to amaze me how receivers can catch a ball out of bounce, at the sidelines, and drag their feet behind them (in bounce). Amazing athletes!!!! This last weekend we attended a family wedding in Fargo and I have never seen so many tall people in one location. The men were not only tall but there many women over 6 feet tall. I am only guessing at this but I estimate that there were women over 6’5”. The one thing I do know is; even though I am a very big person I did not feel so big that evening. Great fun, too bad it was so darn cold.
I have been getting a kick out of people lately. “This weather stinks, how darn cold is it, I can’t even get my grain hauled, I can’t go fishing, it’s too cold to travel to watch a super bowl are just a few of the comments I have heard. It really makes me wonder how we endured all the cold years back in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. I do not remember the year but sometime late 70’s or 80’s I remember like 40 plus days of -10 below for a high. That was cold and it still didn’t slow us down for traveling or froze up water fountains. We just went about our business as usual but a little slower. I think we can be very grateful for the fine winter we have had to this point. It could have been cold like this through the whole month of January, as well.
Corn Meeting!!!!!
Just a reminder, of the corn meeting coming Thursday, February 8th. It will be held in the Memorial building and starts at 8:30 with coffee. The meeting starts at 9 am. There will be a sponsored noon meal and will conclude with a producer panel at 2 pm. We have a panel that includes two producers who no-till, an elevator person and a grower with livestock. There will be many questions about the various parts of growing corn, which will be covered in the morning, but our meeting is focusing on the handling of this commodity. We will have NDSU specialists here with drying expertise along with the panel to help you decide which handling strategy might best work for you.
