Howdy!!!!

It is amazing how time fly’s when your having fun.  Round Up has come and gone and so has another year (2006).  I have gotten a little older AGAIN and the fishing is starting to warm up.  My oldest son called this morning to ask how old I was and wondering how far I am from retirement and mom’s answer was; “he will work until he dies”, no retirement.  Just to let everyone know, I am not thinking of that age yet, just my kids giving me a hard time.  In fact, if I look around, I have a ton of things to do to include finishing my waterfalls, river and fish pond this spring.  I plan on working up my back yard, installing a sprinkler system then replanting grass, sounds like a lot of work left.  I was also told I need to construct a play area for the Grandson nest summer.  The only problem with that will be, he will need to wear a life jacket around the water area, and so, playing on Grandma’s swing set won’t be so fun.

I bring up some of these items to get everyone thinking of spring and their home gardens.  We will be holding a gardening Saturday this March along with other activities to get that engine fired up.  As we prepare for the upcoming growing season, it is fun to watch the enthusiasm in people.  Starting that new seed or plant really fires up the inner soul of people and brightens up the whole community.

Another programming effort coming up will be a Corn meeting February 8th.  This meeting will be held in the Memorial building to begin at 9 am.  There are many topics with the major topic to include storage and management of corn once harvested.  We hope to include a farmer panel to discuss their trials and tribulations.

The last meeting coming up at this point will be a Marketing meeting February 23 at the KC hall.  Edward Usset will be with us again talking about Pre Harvest marketing strategies using the same scenario as he did last year.  The local lenders are again sponsoring a noon lunch.
