Howdy!!!!
Rain, Rain, and more rain!!!! When is going to come to an end or least give
us some days with sun before the next shot of rain. I hate to turn down rain
but enough is enough. I have been a little gloomy with all the clouds and then
the forecast for no rain and wake up in the early morning with another 30-40-50
hundredths. It has been quite a week in our household as my wife needed a
little repair work done to her body. I have spent some time in Grand Forks.
These last weeks and weeks to come is a good reminder of how good we do have
life in general. A little tilt of the steering wheel can make changes that we
are not accustomed too. To add to the problem our grandson came down with
something this past weekend as well. The poor little thing was not feeling good
and unfortunately can not communicate except through crying of their problems.
I was not in the office much last week and will be in and out this week until
she gets home so I do thank everyone for being patient. I have been trying to
get all the questions answered but apologize if I have missed someone. If you
have called and I have not returned your question please, please call again. The
trees, flowers, gardens and crops are looking tremendous at this point. We are
starting to see some disease pressure in our crops and with the current
fungicides available there are good products available to help alleviate some of
those pressures. I did notice last night that there have been some emergence
problems in the edible bean fields. It seems that beans planted before the
rains started, about a month ago, are the fields that are suffering the most.
The potatoes that froze off this spring are making a very good comeback and
things in general are looking good except for the water.
Spruce tree insects!!!
This is to remind everyone to be on the lookout for yellow headed sawfly and
spider mites in your spruce trees. They are out and if found should be treated
with an application of Tempo for both insects or Malathion for spider mites.
There has been a lot of questions this early summer about landscaping and this
is just a reminder to everyone that there will be a garden tour Thursday, July
12th. Relay for life is sponsoring this tour and will be a charge of
$6.00/person. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to explore new
landscape designs and look at the beauty of various yards.
