Howdy!!!!!
What weather we are having!!!!!!!!  It really makes me get into the spring fever and talking garden and landscaping.  Every morning I look out our bedroom window and see the snow in the back yard, wondering how that river and pond will look and if it will flow as planned.  I need to order one more piece of pond liner and install, then finish placing the rocks in logistic areas, install a pump and sit back and enjoy.  Somehow I am thinking it will not be that simple.  I do know one thing; if I were to keep track of my and others labor this would have been a very expensive endevour.  I figured my own labor at the end of last season was approaching 100 hours.

I even got the different nursery sale books out this past weekend looking for ideas for flowers around the yard.  I have not been much on lilies but this spring could also be the first and I am also looking at changing the looks around the bottom of our spruce trees.  I am going to so some experimenting and will let you know how things turn out.  With that said don’t forget about our Lake Region Hort. Day scheduled for this coming Saturday, March 17.

Lake Region Hort. Day!!!
Here is your chance to get the spring bug started, at our new Gardening Saturday.    Gardening Saturday will be Saturday, March 17 in the Memorial building (Devils Lake).  The fun day will start at 9 am and should conclude about 2:30.  There will be many topics covered and a noon meal provided, along with coffee breaks.  Topics to be covered will include “What’s New for 2007” (Ron Smith, NDSU Extension Horticulturist), “Everything to know about bulbs” (Corine’s Garden, Pekin), “High yield Gardening” (Carrie Schumacker, Walsh County Extension), “What’g bugging our trees and shrubs” (Steve Sagaser, Grand Forks Extension), “Square foot Gardening” (Ron and Betty Smith), and”The Perfect Container” (Holly Mawby).  There is a pre-registration fee of $15 (due by March 14) with $20 at the door.  There will be door prizes all day long so hurry on in and pre-register for the day.  This day is going to replace our horticulture classes of the past.
