Howdy!!!!
Here we are almost the April fools day!!!! Sorry for not writing last week but was in Golden Colorado for a Renewable Energy Conference. As it turned out I should not have gone as the weather was unbelievably nice. Daytime temps in the 70’s and night time temps in the 50’s. I really got spring fever.
A couple of notes, from previous weeks, that I would like to mention; First off, my hats off to the Four Winds basketball team at the state class B tournament. Job well done!!!! I would also like to congratulate Tony Ironheart for his tremendous season. It was great to see young men dressed in ties, during the awards ceremony, such as Tony. It just goes to show, we do have respect for others at such an event.
The Devils Lake girl Firebirds also leave nothing behind for their efforts. They played a team nationally ranked, in the championship game, and a break here or there and the end result would be different. My hats off, to both the men and women Firebirds, for their tremendous effort this season.
The Sioux hockey team seemed to put things all together at the end of the season. I was a little concerned in the championship game against the Gophers but have no fear as UND prevailed. It will be fun watching the next level in two weeks.
Speaking of hockey it was fun last night, as we all gathered to watch the hockey game. The phone rang in the middle of the game and here was Jeff Panzer and his wife. He played for the Sioux hockey team, seems like years ago, but was only 5-6 years ago. It is great fun to have young people call an old bugger to visit. Don’t worry I was not the main reason he called but both of them did talk to me.
On to the spring season. We had a very good response to our first ever Lake Region Hort Day. I would like to thank everyone for their support of such an event and hopefully we can make this grow into something big. As usual we had many door prize sponsors and would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support. Without folks like this, many opportunities would not be possible. This would also be a good time to mention my weekly hort radio show to start in another two weeks. I have been getting many phone calls about trimming to mulching to nutrient needs of specific areas so will be off and running with the three show a week program.
Last but not least I should mention that big trouble is brewing in our houseold. Our Grandson is growing like he has been consuming large amounts of a plant nutrient called nitrogen. Most plants that have sufficient amounts of nitrogen grow like weeds, thus our Grandson It is really amazing the things he can do and he is a only 9 months old. There is nothing sacred in our home anymore but the little rascal sure is FUN.
