Howdy!!!!
Wow!!!! It is starting to feel more winter each day. How can we complain with the fall we have had. Already the first of December and no snow and except for a handful of days very reasonable temperatures. Harvest around the county has been pretty well completed and deer rifle season has come to an end. Thanksgiving has come and gone and what a fun time of year it is to give thanks for all that we have. There are many people around the world that have something less than we have. Just this morning I received an email from a friend that said another friend just received word she has a brain tumor. Life is so fragile and we have a huge tendency to take so much for granted. So, as you can see we have many things to be great full for. I must admit however I am not grateful for all the food that seems to be present on Thanksgiving day.
We have many activities coming up in the near future with “Ranchers Night Out” being the first. Lake Region Livestock is the place and the time is 5:30 for supper and the night is Wednesday, November 28. So, if you have never attended, you do not know what you are missing so ask those that come early every year for a good meal and a very informational evening and you will not miss this night.
We are also having our annual Volunteer shooting sports meeting and supper tonight and with that comes a request for anyone interested, in becoming a shooting sports volunteer, please contact our office on specifics. We will get you enrolled in the program and find a location for you to become certified. We presently have 18 volunteers for air rifle, shotgun, archery and fishing.
Ramsey County Crop Improvement Association has a seed allotment of Faller HRSW for sale. If you are interested in obtaining some bushels stop by our office to fill out an application. There is a $1.00 deposit, on requested bushels, required.
With the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season coming upon us, do not forget to think about the tax season ahead of us. We often get caught up in the day to day activities and overlook our financial situation and find an awful surprise waiting for us come tax time. Planning on your own tax complications now can possibly save you thousands down the road and with the uncertainties in the farming sector of nutrient costs, seed costs, fuel costs some of these can play a major role not only in your own tax situation but also planting strategies come next spring.
