Howdy!!!!
Well it finally happened; I see some bright thing in the sky this morning.  It is terrible how grumpy we all get by days and weeks of clouds.  I can not imagine how folks in Alaska can handle all the darkness, from now till spring.  Well whatever the case the sun is shinning and sounds good for the rest of the week.  With that being said this will be a good time of to get some of those chores done around the yard and also get those combines rolling.  We have a lot of crop left to harvest and that means equipment moving down our county roads.  I have been involved in many close calls over the years, with equipment on the county roads, as everyone is always in a big hurry and can not slow down.  Does 5 minutes mean that much in your day, to wait, or should you maybe get going 5 minutes earlier to take advantage of any down time you might have; be it a flat tire, combine moving to slow, run out of gas or maybe hit the ditch because of a phone call you needed to make?  What ever the case may be, give our area producers a little courtesy as they do many good things for our local communities.

The other thing I have noticed about fall is I seemed to have gotten in the winter mode and gotten lazy or tired of working in my yard.  I have many things to do and find it harder and harder to get out doing those things.  Probably an age factor playing a role!!!!!!!!  And one last thing about fall, when is our area going to get a good killing frost?  We have had frost across the area but a good killing frost would be good for many things to include our farmer’s crops.

Rancher’s Night Out
We have many activities coming up in the next month and one of them being our annual Rancher’s Night Out.  This is a great opportunity for area cattle producers to not only learn some cutting edge grazing strategies but also learn what good food really is.  Remember Wednesday, November 28, Lake Region Livestock with supper starting at 6 pm.  We have presenters visiting about grazing strategies grazing more cattle on less acreage (profitability), providing high quality water for increased weight gain and feeding peas and DDG’S for increased weight gain.  You will be pleasantly surprised by the amount of information you can incorporate into your own cattle operation, to improve ranch bottom line dollars.  We are also sponsoring North Dakota Eastern Feedout again this year.  Producers, entered in last years trials, found an average of $150 extra dollars in their pocket over feeder calf prices, at time of delivery.  Calves are entered in 6 head lots at a cost of $25 per lot and all feed costs are held until the end of the feeding period.  If you are interested in improving your herd genetics this might be just what you need.  Pre-registration is required so to find our more information give me a call at 701-662-7030

Farmer’s Night Out
One last night to remember is Farmer’s Night Out, Wednesday, November 15.  This is a tremendously fun night as there is no sales pitch just a great fun filled evening to show our area producers how much they are appreciated from area business folks.  It is held in the Memorial building and starts at 6 pm.
