Howdy!!!
It is actually a very nice morning. I have to travel today and with the little snow on the ground could make travel a little more treacherous. We have been very fortunate to have missed the last 3-4 weeks of snow. Our yards and communities do not have any more room so hopefully we can miss more snow until the sun is more penetrating. The other night our granddaughter was over to watch Sioux hockey with Grandpa and even though I went through the stages of raising children it amazes me how fast these little ones grow. I really mean it only seems like yesterday when she was born and now we are expecting another little one in our family in May. This really is a lot of fun.
Each and every morning we wake up to the bad news of our economy. I watch “Good Morning America” for about a half an hour and have done so my whole life and of course the main topic today was a stimulus package. I really wonder just how big a number that really is. I can remember back as a elementary student how if I had a quarter I really thought I had something, when I started farming if we could reach that hundred thousand plateau, we would really have something, today people talk of a million like it was a hundred dollars (I wished I had a 1/50 of a million); so my question is “just really how much is a billion”. As I lay in bed this morning, listening to this host talk and tried to imagine how much room a billion would be in $100 bills. I could not come up with an answer and yet the new proposal is for something like 850 billion.
For the first while of this troublesome time we were kind of isolated from the rest of the world but suddenly we are also in the middle of the troublesome times. I did hear that our government has called big corporate and asked them to sell off their fancy jets and other luxurious items. Then one morning they were talking about Merrill Lynch and how the CEO just received a large bonus plus spent a million on redecorating his office. This all really makes me wonder where the board of directors are OR were. CEO’S carry out the plan, lay out by the board of directors; so how come the board of directors did not catch all of this spending by this obvious busy spending CEO.
I did not mean to dwell on this topic as big money is out of my league. But do mean to mention if you are having difficulties please stop by our office as we may have different places we specialists in Fargo that might be able to help you.
