Howdy!!!

Here we go again, more rain.  At least the rain did not come like it looked at the 10 o’clock news.  It looked like we were going to get dumped on.  There has been a lot of interest in systemic insecticides, in trees, in the controlling of insects through the growing season.  There is a systemic that works very well and needs to be applied only once a year.  I am however recommending making an application this spring and again this fall, with the thought that we keep in the rotation of a yearly basis in the fall instead of spring.  This insecticide is taken up by the tree and fed to the leaves, which generally attract the more interest from insects.  Aphids is a great bug that makes a mess on everything they spu their secretion on and this systemic takes care of that.  If you would like more information about that product please stop by our office or give me a call at 701-662-7030 and I will be very happy to help you.  I do know of greenhouses, in Devils Lake that carries this product.

Last night Deb and I started working on our back yard, namely our water feature.  I still do need to find a better way of keeping fall leaves from entering the system as they get wet and make a bad mess to clean up in the spring.  I started digging in a reservoir, for the system, and really found out how badly out of shape I really am.  I will get it done but will probably take another day to complete.  Our goal is to have our pond running by next weekend.  I had Deb planting the next session of peas, we like to plant in two week intervals, which allows us the ability to spread out our pea harvest.  It sounds like cold temperatures all week long during the evening hours.  Remember, there are some crops that can and should be planted now and others that should not be planted, like tomatoes, beans cucumbers and any other vinning crop.  I also have been looking for hosta’s other than the ones I already have.  If you have any unique hosta, other than the usual and would like to share please give me a call.

I do need to go today but am getting excited about getting things done in the garden, fishing needs to be done and I have a son that would like to get a fence put up in his back yard.  My little grandson likes to visit neighbors and one never knows where he might end up.  Grandpa even taught him a new trick with his cousin’s toy car last weekend.  He found out that going downhill can really be fun, with no feet on the ground.  Look out, here he comes, and will be fun to watch as payback to dad will be interesting.
