This is such a joyous time of year that “I can hardly stand it”. How many times have we eaten a very large holiday “meal” and was ready to die, as our host (mother and father) bring out more goodies. This was the usual case on Christmas day for us. A 12 course meal (along with 3 choices of meats), and all the sweets and goodies, then about an hour later out comes chili, oyster stew, little smokies in barbecue sauce, and little smokies wrapped in bread dough, I’m still suffering. Then about 2 hours later out comes potato salad along with other salads, sandwiches and more goodies. It’s no wonder I look like I do and sleep so terrible at night during the holiday season.
It really is fun to get together during the holiday season. The surprise look on people faces as they open their gifts and those that look unhappy as they suffer through the day, being full for 48 hours a day.
Well its time to move on but from all of us to you, we wish you a very happy New Year and a very prosperous one too.
The Lake Region Roundup is soon approaching and we need to be making plans to attend the educational festivities. January 5th and 6th is the day, breakfast in the mourning is the time and the Memorial building, in the Devils Lake, is the place. You will not find a better place to learn profitable farming strategies, meet your neighbors and get away from home for two days than Lake Region Roundup. We look forward to meeting you all there.
We are looking for volunteers to become shooting sports certified in Archery, Rifle along with fishing. This volunteer time is well worth the time spent and will be used to help train our young people, from the entire area, the proper techniques and safety in the use of this equipment. How could you find a better way to start young people in outdoor skill activities than being a certified teacher? These classes are open to folks from the entire state. We will take the first 20 volunteers for each class. The first TEN Ramsey county VOLUNTEERS WILL GET THEIR $45 DOLLAR REGISTRATION FEE WAIVED. So, Hurry, Hurry and be the next spectacular volunteer to teach our youth. To get registered call the Extension office at 701-662-7027 or stop by.
We will be holding our district soybean and canola commodity elections, Thursday, Jan 5th during Roundup. The election will take place in the Historical room (court house basement) at 8:30 am. If you are interested in running for one of the district directors or participate in the election process please plan on attending this meeting. You must have been a grower or, intend to plant one of these commodities in 2005, to participate in this election.
