Howdy!!!!
I am writing this article a few days early as I will be in Fargo for Eastern Crop Scout school Monday and Tuesday.  Learning the most current information on new techniques and a variety of issues that affect crop production is very important for the producers of Ramsey County.  We had our first private pesticide training this morning and it went very well.  I am a person that likes hands on type meetings and that is the kind of meeting I offer.

This weather is starting to concern me a little on how everything seems to be going south of us.  Don’t get me wrong, as I have really enjoyed our winter so far, but a little precipitation lets us know that it can happen here.  I also understand that one storm can change the whole picture.  I talked to friend from west of Bismarck last night and they are very dry again, with no snow cover, a dry farming season is not looking very bright.

Shooting Sports classes!!!!!!
We are going to be offering shooting sports disciplines for area youth starting March 10th.  We will be holding a 6 class session in Rifle discipline and a 4 class session in Archery.  These classes could very well grow into more class time if the need is there.  The classes will be held in the basement of the Memorial building and the Armory.  We are taking the first 20 youth for the Rifle class and the first 12 for Archery.  We will have 2 classes per night with each class having 10 and 6 respectively.  The classes will be from 6-7:30 and from 7:30 - 9 pm.  If you are interested in registering your young women and men in this class please call the Extension office at 701-662-7027.  You can register for a class in both disciplines if you would like but we would encourage you to participate in only one discipline.  We also are requesting that at least one parent attend these sessions as well. There will be a $10 dollar registration fee per individual for each class they participate in.

Ramsey County Crop Improvement Annual meeting$$$$$$$$$
The annual meeting of the Ramsey County Crop Improvement meeting will be held March 17th in the Armory of the Memorial building.  The meeting will start at 9 am with registration and will feature Pea production, No-till (either into pea ground or no-tilling peas) and a farmer panel discussion (including a buying trade rep).  Right after a sponsored lunch (Devils lake Equipment, Twetes Inc. and Ramsey County Crop Improvement association) Twete Inc and Devils Lake Equipment will give short presentations on their new no-till drills.  This will be followed by a short annual meeting.  This will be a great time to learn new innovative techniques, strategies, a chance to visit your neighbors and get a great noon lunch.
