Howdy!!!
Here we are, almost a week, after Lake Region Round-Up and I am still tired.
After spending many years on the producer side and now being part of the
group that gets the round up functioning, is a bit surprising.
Terry and Marietta do a tremendous job in organizing and doing the little
things that make the Round-Up so successful. The day before round-up, the surrounding county extension
agents get together and help get everything set up and also do presentations
during round up. Thus making for a
very full 2-day event.
An ice-fishing tournament was held on Creel Bay (Devils Lake) this past weekend with varying results. Fisherman came from all over the United States to fish the famous “Trap Attack”. Fishing was tough for most fishermen but, as always the case, someone does pretty well to claim first place honors.
As I was watching the weigh-in on Sunday, I couldn’t help but wonder who might have caught fish on water that may have come from my farm (1993-1197). It is very hard to visualize the water level in Devils Lake in 1993 compared to the present level. No matter the case, the lake has been a tremendous asset to the Lake Region community.
North
Dakota Feedlot School$$$$$$
There will be a feedlot school, held at the Carrington Research
Extension Center, January 25th and 26th.
This will be a great opportunity, to not only get classroom experience on
feeding cattle, but also get hands-on experience feeding cattle at the research
center. The first day starts at 10 am and conclude about 9 pm.
The second day will start at 8 am and will conclude about 3 pm.
There is a registration fee for the class, which will include materials,
all breaks and lunches. For more
information contact the Extension office at 701-662-7027.
Horticulture web site!!!!!!!
We are very diligently working on our Horticulture web site and should have our
tree site done by February 1. This site will be very user friendly and the pictures that
Cindy and I found are very helpful in describing the tree, disease or insects.
We will also be doing annuals, perennials, lawn and other horticulture
topics but will take a few months to develop.
The web site is linked to the Ramsey County Web Site (www.co.ramsey.nd.us/).
