Howdy!!!!!!
Well another week gone by and no precipitation. Don’t get me wrong; I do not want a huge snow storm or 5 inches of rain but a drive through the country side would indicate blowing dirt could be possibility this spring because of the lack of snow cover. I do however really like not having to shovel snow or drive through raging blizzards, getting to an event. I have been working on our Horticulture web site and I hope everyone will be patient with me, as this will take a couple of years to complete. Keep looking through what we have done so far as we will be adding things weekly starting with the tree section. We do have the Tree and Shrub section nearly complete to this point so take a look and let me know what you think. Our web site is http://www.co.ramsey.nd.us/. Once at the Ramsey County web site click on Departments which will bring up the different departments in the county government. You will find Ramsey County Extension at this point and click on that link. You will find many new things on our web site including information for the Ag sector including NDawn. I will also be available to come to your group and talk on different issues including Horticulture.
Horticulture
Classes!!!!!
Get ready, Get set and Go!!!!!; spring is here and so is the Horticulture
season. We will be offering
horticulture classes starting Tuesday, April 5.
The classes will continue April 12, April 19 and May 3.
The classes will talk about Lawn Care, Annuals and Perennials, Trees and
Shrubs and end with an “Extreme Makeover” of someone’s yard.
The group will go to someone’s yard and give suggestions on what they
would change or what should be planted using the information they have learned
from the previous 3 classes. There
will be $20 pre-registration fee, $30 per couple.
We have presenters coming from Fargo to help with classes and this
registration fee will cover mileage, cookies, coffee and the last night will end
with hamburgers and beverages. This
will be another great time to learn about the new genetics in gardening and also
get some ideas for your own landscape design. To pre-register, call the Extension office at 701-662-7027.
Landscape design
“Extreme Makeover”
The last class of the Horticulture session will be done on someone’s yard.
The class will go through the sessions and use that knowledge to develop
a landscape design someone might use for their yard.
I will spit the group into smaller groups for the fun evening and it’s
very interesting to listen to the different ideas available for that yard.
To
become eligible for the “Extreme makeover” you do need to be registered for
the full class session. The
last night of the classroom presentation we will draw a name that is interested
in an extreme makeover to their yard.
Fishing Sports!!!!!
We are offering a fishing sports class for interested youth Saturday,
March 19 in the court house basement meeting room.
This class is being offered to youth ages 8-17. THIS IS A GREAT
