Howdy!!!!
Well, I think we are back in the North Dakota winter wonder land. The storm
that I will be writing about is a day away but sure does not sound very good for
Tuesday. The weatherman was predicting school closing for Tuesday because of
the weather and wind. We’ll have to wait and see but by the time you read this,
the weather will have already arrived.
This past weekend found me hunting with my youngest son. We looked far and wide for that 30 point buck and did find a smaller buck walk into a slough to bed down for the day. Nothing is more rewarding than watching you game bed down for the day and to make that big sneak attack. I found myself in poorer shape than I thought as we walked across the field into that cold stiff wind on Sunday morning. I did not have a buck tag, do I got to walk the cattails and found even more tough work. I have promised myself today that I will get into shape. The buck was there and eventually succumbed to the wrath of my son’s shooting. Its’ funny, we always are in big anticipation of that big buck, big fish, that banded goose or the biggest pumpkin and upon completion of that process we are always happy but are always looking down the road for that bigger game. I write about this venture because it reminds of a little thought of mine, “BE HAPPY WITH WHAT THE DAY BRINGS AND WHAT OUR LIFE BRINGS, AS WE NEVER KNOW WHAT TOMMORROW MAY HOLD”. The best part of the whole day was being out with my sons or daughter to enjoy the moment with them.
“Cattleman’s Night Out”
Just a reminder of Cattleman’s Night Out, coming December 1, at Lake Region
Livestock. Jim and Mary Zeigler were very kind to sponsor this event and will
start out the evening with Rocky Mountain oysters and Chili. The guest speakers
for evening will be Dr. Charlie Stoltenow talking about Anthrax, Dr. Susan
Keller talking about cattle ID, Tim Petry talking about the cattle outlook
situation and what the future may hold and to finish the educational night Carl
Hoppe will visit about the different alternative feed sources available to the
cattle producers.
The night will start at 6 pm and should finish about 9 pm. So, COME ONE, COME ALL TO THE 2nd annual cattleman’s’ night out.
