Howdy!!!!
Anybody looking for a job? Deb and I have been busy helping my son and
daughter-in-law prepare their new home, for the big move, from a rented home.
The timing of this move couldn’t have come at a better time as my son needs to
get prepared, for his job very soon and our daughter-in-law also has a very busy
day job. To add to the stress of doing a little painting and remodeling in the
home, they purchased, they have set a date to be fully in by this past Sunday.
I don’t think that is going to happen unless they get many volunteers to help
with the packing.
I remember the first move Deb and I made back in 1997 was awful. What do we do with all of this stuff (junk) we have gathered over the many years of marriage? It was very difficult, but we threw many things away that we thought we would use one day but forgot to ask the question “what year”. I would be willing to bet if each and every one of you who read this article were to move today you would find stuff that you have totally forgotten about and could just as well either throw away or give to the relief fund in New Orleans. The thought of keeping something around just in case is a very good idea. I remember back when farming with my father he would save every little piece of scrap iron for that “just in case time”. The pile would grow and grow until one day we would have to haul the scrap iron to Porter Brothers. If there was any consolation to the whole ordeal is we would at least get to Devils Lake and have a chance to go out for dinner.
My whole thought of moving is this: don’t be afraid to throw things away and try to make this a new adventure and go with the flow.
Spraying your weeds????????
As we are getting our yards ready for the long winter season ahead and are
thinking of trying to control our weeds in our lawns we need to remember “read
the label”. This past week we had the unfortunate thing happen in a home owner
yard. They had purchased a product to kill weeds, around their trees. After
applying the product, they read the label and found out that the product was not
be used for the intention the homeowner had wanted. The aftermath of the whole
scene is, if they would have read the label, they would have saved a lot of
trial and tribulations. They may even lose some trees from this ordeal. “READ
THE LABEL BEFORE APPLYING ANY HERBICIDE”. I have also been getting many samples
of weeds brought to my office and am able to identify most of those weeds and
those that I don’t know I find and call back with the information. The latest
plant that I had no idea of was called Greenbrier. Nothing to worry about but
an interesting plant with black cherries looking similar to Chokecherry’s.
