Ramsey County FCE Fall Council
Tuesday, October 11, 2005
Dakota Friend Bed and Breakfast
Devils Lake, ND 58301
The Ramsey County Family and Community Educators Council began their Fall Council with a tour of the Dakota Friend Bed and Breakfast establishment by owner and operator Olivia Kingree. FCE members enjoyed the unique home with its many historical furnishings.
Following the tour, FCE members were seated at tables featuring elegant place settings and individual favors made by the Council officers. All enjoyed a delicious meal prepared and served by Olivia.
President Linda Peters called the business meeting to order at 7:57 pm. The meeting began with the Homemakers Creed.
Reports
The secretary’s report was filed as read.
The treasurer’s report showed a balance of $1,975.74. One outstanding bill for door prizes will need to be paid. The treasurer’s report was filed as submitted.
Old Business
FCE members who attended the District Meeting in Carrington reported on the “Colors” program they participated in and into which color category each of them fit.
FCE members who attended the State Conference in Minot reported on the program, tours, speakers and awards luncheon. The following received certificates for years of membership: Jeanette Calderwood/50 years, Rosie Wentz, Adeline Miller, Joan Zahradka and Judy Aronson/40 years, Carol Olson/35 years, Lola Schlieve, Connie Slettleland and Mary Jane Stubee/30 years. Jessica Johanson of Sweetwater School received first place in the third grade division of the state writing contest for her entry of “What Can I Do to Make A Difference”. Rosie Wentz was re-elected as a state officer. All funds from the FCE Gift Shop were given to the 4-H Foundation. Thirteen counties were represented at the conference. The 2006 conference will be held Sept 29-30 in Fargo.
New Business
Information on this year’s Writing contest plus the Art & Essay Contest has been sent out to all the schools.
The Council will again hold a Bake Sale at the Annual Children’s’ Safety and Learning Fair.
Members were asked to suggest ideas for location or programs for the Spring, 2006 Council meeting.
Names were drawn for door prizes.
Meeting adjourned at 8:24 pm.
