Ramsey County 4-H |
|
December 17, 2003
Dear Ramsey County Family:
Enclosed are many items of interest for Ramsey County 4-H’ers. Please contact our office at 662-7027 if you have any questions on these items or any other 4-H topic.
PROJECT DAY
There are still a few spots available
for participation in the Lake Region Project Day on January 31. Give us a call
to see what is open if you are interested.
TOUR IDEAS
As club reports come in, it is evident
that a few clubs have enjoyed tours this past fall. Places other clubs might be
interested in touring are Butler Machinery, WDAY TV and Air & Space Museum
all in Fargo; Fredericks Live Bait, Pugsleys, Summers Mfg all in Devils Lake.
COMMUNITY SERVICE IDEA
The recent fires in Southern
California have had a devastating impact on people and the environment. Many 4-H
families in San Diego, San Bernadino and Ventura Counties have lost homes and/or
animals. Locally, clubs, volunteers and the county councils have stepped in to
help. North Dakota will be collecting monetary donations and will send those
donations to the California 4-H Foundation. Checks should be made out to the
"North Dakota 4-H Foundation." Send checks to: Center for 4-H Youth
Development, Attn: California Wildfire Fund, NDSU, 219 FLC, PO Box 5016, Fargo
ND 58105-5016.

from $100 to $2000. Leaders are receiving forms in their mailer.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT
Please consider the following topics
that were recently tabled at the 2003 Fall Council and will be revisited at the
2004 Spring Council Meeting:
*2003 was the first year video tape entries for the 4-H Fashion Revue were allowed based on religious reasons. This worked well at the 2003 Achievement Days and was briefly reviewed at the Fall 2003 4-H Council Meeting. If you have any opinions as to continuing, changing or expanding this policy, please contact our office or your leader.
*The council also discussed the possibility of 4-H club members being able to use clover points to purchase savings bonds at the conclusion of their 4-H career. Again please contact our office or your club leader with any opinions.
SCHOLARSHIPS
The deadline for scholarships
available through the ND 4-H Foundation is March 1. All information and forms
are available on the website. Read the instructions carefully and submit the
requested number of copies. The web site can be found at: http://www.ext.nodak.edu/4h/about/formList.htm
RAMSEY COUNTY 4-H ALUMNI
We received the following information
about a former Ramsey County 4-H Member who was active in the Starkweather Boys
4-H Club and a member of the Ramsey County 4-H livestock and crops judging team.
It is wonderful to see the influence 4-H has.
