Enrollment Forms
Enrollment forms have been sent to your 4-H leaders. This newsletter is
being sent to everyone, those that have submitted their forms and those that are
currently inactive because they have not turned in a form. This will be the only
newsletter sent to those who haven’t turned in their enrollment form. So get
those forms in, that way you won’t miss out on important dates and events. If
you have questions or need help filling out your enrollment form please stop by
the Extension Office and we’ll help you out.
Clover Points
Anyone wishing to use their clover points for items from the 4-H Source Book
needs to talk to Cindy before November 1. An order will be placed then. Contact
the office if you need to know your total for points.
Time for Salvation Army Bells
The Salvation Army is again looking for volunteers to ring the bell by their
donation kettles during the holiday season. The bell ringing season will begin
Friday, November 24 and continue every Friday and Saturday through December 23.
Volunteers are needed at two locations – K-Mart and Wal-Mart. Times at both
locations are 9 am to 9 pm. Please call Helen at 662-6069 to set up a time for
your club or you, as an individual, to be part of this very worthy community
service project.L
Literature
More and more of the excellent 4-H Project Books are being printed by the
central organization of National 4-H Cooperative Curriculum System. This
cooperative effort has generated some very up-to-date publications which are a
terrific reference for 4-H members. In the past, our office has been ordering a
large number of publications in the fall and more throughout the year as
requested by 4-H members. Unfortunately, shipping costs have increased so much
that we are going to move to ordering twice a year – November 1 and April 1.
Please have your requests for Project Books into our office by those dates to be
part of the bulk order.
Also, remember that 4-H members can on their own order from the 4-H Source Book at any time. You are then responsible for paying for both the order and shipping costs. Each 4-H leader should have received a copy of the 4-H Source Book directly from National 4-H Council. If your club did not receive a copy or if a family would like a copy, contact our office as we have extras on hand.
National 4-H Congress Alternate
Congratulations to Stephanie Gunderson, Lake Country Leaders 4-H Club, who was
selected as an alternate to the National 4-H Congress to be held November 24-28
in Atlanta, Georgia.
Applications for the 2007 4-H Congress are available in our office or can be found at: www.ext.nodak.edu/4h/about.formList.htm
Completing the application does take some effort and thought, but can be well worth the time.
4-H Ambassador Selections
Ambassador selections will be held on January 13, 2007 in Bismarck. Please
encourage your older 4-H’ers to run for a position as a 4-H Ambassador. Current
4-H members in Ramsey County, over the age of 16, were sent an application form.
Ramsey County is very pleased to have four current 4-H Ambassadors – Marty Platz,
Trent Stromme, Tricia Berg and Brandon Langerud. Feel free to contact any of
them for more information. Just going through the selection process is a
terrific learning experience.
Congratulations Ramsey County - Again
Ramsey County has been fortunate to receive, the second year in a row, a
rebate check from the ND 4-H Foundation. In the County Rebate program, each
county is given a county goal based on the number of 4-H members in that county.
When unrestricted annual gifts are made to the Foundation, the donor designates
which county he/she would like to credit for their gift. When the county meets
or exceeds their goal over the 4-H year, a rebate check for 25% of all gifts
received throughout the year is issued to the county 4-H Council.
