The Best of the Best in Wheat Research and Marketing
"Profitable Wheat Production in 08", will be held Thursday, January 31 at the Grand Dakota Lodge/Days Inn 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Researchers and Extension Specialists from NDSU have prepared a highlight of the most current research to help you make better management decisions on your farm. Production and marketing tools, hands-on demonstrations and more—all focused on results that make a difference. Program topics include:
* Hard red spring and durum wheat market and current issues;
* Higher prices, higher costs—what crop will be the most profitable;
* Wheat marketing strategies for ‘08;
* Rotations and winter wheat—what works for Western ND;
* Variety update—hard red spring, durum and winter wheat;
* N use in wheat—strategies for improving efficiencies and/or reducing costs;
* Fungicide use in wheat—when does it pay;
* Why do leaf rust resistant varieties become susceptible;
* Controlling wheat insects: sawfly, stem maggot;
* Spatially managed farms; what have we learned;
* What’s new in no-till;
* Durum quality—how is it measured;
* Determining fair rent using "Fair Rent" software;
* Remote monitoring equipment.
