Grazing Workshop Scheduled
Central Stark and Western Soil Conservation Districts have scheduled a grazing workshop for Friday, March 7, 2008. The workshop will be held at the Days Inn in Dickinson from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. MT.
Workshop topics and speakers include: "Conservation Innovation Grant – Evaluation of an Alternative Beef Production Strategy" by Doug Landblom, NDSU Dickinson Research Extension Center Beef Cattle Specialist. Mr Landblom discussion will include a discussion on weaning claves on standing corn.
What are the benefits of a grazing system and how do grazing systems affect soil health. This topic of "Why a Grazing System?" will be addressed by Dennis Froemke, NRCS Area Range Management Specialist.
After lunch Todd Solen, NRCS District Conservationist will talk about a proposal "Cover Crop Plot" that the Western and Central Soil Districts, Dickinson Research Extension Center and NDSU Extension are working on.
Finishing the program will be Kenny Miller, Burleigh County Soil Conservation District technician discussing "Grazing Cover Crops". Mr Miller has been working with grazing systems that include cover crops.
