Drought Information Available on Web
Drought information ranging from how much water a cow needs per day to weed control strategies is available. See on the Web at Disaster: Drought Information
North Dakota State University Extension Service and North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station researchers, faculty and staff provided information for the Web site.
The Web site provides information on a wide variety of drought-related topics and is designed to help farmers and ranchers work through a drought. This year is even more difficult because of the higher fuel, grain, hay and fertilizer costs.
Major topics addressed include crop and livestock production, drought maps, weather information, family and financial concerns, services and horticulture. The site also has links to other drought Web sites.
Drought crop production topics include weeds and herbicides, insect pests, diseases and general production concerns. Drought topics in the livestock portion of the Web site include general topics, feeds and feeding, as well as poisoning and economic concerns.
Under services, livestock producers will find Web links to the NDSU FeedList, Minnesota Extension Service Haylist, South Dakota Feed/Harvest Finder and the Montana Hay Hotline. Farmers and ranchers who have forage they want to sell or buy can post their information on the NDSU FeedList database. Producers also may use this service to list pasture they have available for rent.
