Project Expo

The Project Expo is an opportunity for 4-H'ers to develop and present an educational table top display that is related to one their 4-H projects.  During the event the 4-H'er gives an oral explanation to the judges and responds to questions.  Upon selection, county participants may advance to state competition.

What the Member Does In Project Expo

Any youth enrolled in 4-H may enter.

Select and research a topic or project directly related to a 4-H project in which the member is currently enrolled. Prepare an exhibit for display from this project. Examples are:

"Picture Perfect" - Photography
"Sew What's New" - Clothing
"Horse Sense" - Horse
"Get a Blast out of Rockets" - Aerospace

Prepare posters or examples to illustrate steps or add interest. The entire display must fit on a standard size card table.

Become familiar with the Project Expo Score Card.

Bring the card table, display supplies and holders for posters to the event. The entire display must fit on a standard size card
table.

Arrange the display and stand near it, neatly dressed -including a white blouse/shirt with a 4-H emblem on the front. Be prepared to answer questions from the judges and public. Questions may be asked about steps in preparing the article, cost, results of study, reasons for doing project, etc.

Due to health regulations and space limitations, no live animals will be allowed in showcase exhibits.

Awards: Each county conducts a Project Expo. Williams County selects three persons to participate in the state preteen division and three persons to participate in the teen division of the North Dakota State Fair.

All entries at the North Dakota State Fair will receive a ribbon. Outstanding overall presentations will be recognized with an Award of Excellence. Award of Excellence recipients may compete another year in the same event.
