A workshop for new sugar beet growers will be offered Wednesday and Thursday, March 25 and 26, at the Northland Lodge, Crookston, Minn., beginning at 8 a.m. the first day, 8:30 the second and running through the afternoon both days. Among the topics to be covered the first day are cultural practices and seedbed preparation, fertility management, plant populations, planting dates, field and variety selection, insects, and the background of the sugar beet industry. Topics to be covered the second day are weed control, diseases and harvesting.
The workshop fee is $30 for those who register and pay by Friday, March 13, or $40 at the door. The fee covers lunch, breaks and all materials. To register call Marilyn at (701) 231-8881.
