Grass and Beef Workshop Set For Minot on Jan. 25
and 26
Fine-tuning pasture and forage management to improve livestock production profits will be the focus of a grass and beef workshop in Minot Jan. 25 and 26.
The two-day workshop will open at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25. Lee Manske, range management specialist at the NDSU Dickinson Research Extension Center and Kevin Sedivec of the NDSU Animal and Range Science Department will explain principles and concepts of grass and range management and grazing strategies and help producers apply these basic ideas to the goals of their operations. Discussions will focus on how grass grows and how livestock use that grass in their diets. During the program, participants will develop forage and grazing strategies for their own ranches that take into account those considerations.
Because the workshop can accommodate only a limited number of participants, those planning to attend need to preregister by Jan. 15. Registration materials are available at county offices of the NDSU Extension Service or from the NDSU North Central Research Extension Center in Minot. A $30 registration fee will be charged for materials and meals.
