Field Day at NDSU's Agronomy Seed Farm Rescheduled for July 23

The annual field day at North Dakota State University's Agronomy Seed Farm has been rescheduled for Friday, July 23. Rainy weather and delayed crop development forced the cancellation of a June 30 event.

The field day will open at 8:30 a.m. with coffee and registration. Tours begin at 9 a.m. The Agronomy Seed Farm is located one mile south of Casselton and one mile west on the frontage road which parallels I-94 on its north side.

NDSU plant breeders will be on hand to discuss progress in developing new varieties of hard red and hard white spring wheat, two- and six-rowed barley, oats, and other crops. NDSU weed scientists Richard Zollinger and George Kegode will present advances in weed control, and NDSU agricultural engineer Vern Hofman will outline how to reduce spray drift and discuss other spray-related topics. Throughout the event, NDSU Extension specialists will be available for individual consultations and to present a general overview regional conditions related to their specialities.

A complimentary noon luncheon will follow the tours. For more information, call (701) 347-4743.
