On-Farm Feed Mixing Workshop Scheduled for Sept. 15 at NDSU

An on-farm feed mixing workshop is scheduled from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at North Dakota State University.

"The program is designed for livestock producers with questions about how on-farm feed mixing may work for them and the potential benefits that it offers," says Greg Lardy, a beef specialist with the NDSU Extension Service.

The workshop is sponsored by NDSU and the Northern Crops Institute. A registration fee of $25 covers the cost of educational materials and must be paid by August 31. For more information or to request a registration form, call (701) 231-7736 or e-mail nci@ndsuext.nodak.edu.

Morning workshop sessions will focus on nutrient content of common feed ingredients and nutrient requirements of livestock. Featured topics include:

Afternoon sessions will focus on the practical application of on-farm mixing techniques. Koch will lead discussions on feed particle size and feed ingredient proportioning and mixing.
