NDSU Wide World of Weeds Workshop Set for Jan. 25, 2000

The Wide World of Weeds, a one-day workshop sponsored by the North Dakota State University Extension Service is set to begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the Ramada Plaza Suites and Conference Center in Fargo.

This workshop has been designed for crop consultants, agronomists, agricultural dealers, extension agents and industry representatives--all ag professionals who advise growers regarding weed-control and herbicide-use recommendations. CEU credits for the Certified Crop Advisor program will be awarded for attendance.

Included in the workshop are four concurrent sessions. When registering, participants will be able to indicate the three sessions they are most interested in attending, and the most popular session will be offered as a general session, explains Scott Fitterer, an NDSU research specialist in charge of registrations. Participants will be able to attend both general sessions and two concurrent sessions.

The program instructors for both the general and the concurrent sessions are researchers and extension specialists from the NDSU Department of Plant Sciences. Topics for the concurrent sessions follow.

"The workshop will be limited to the first 150 prepaid registrants, determined by postmark. For this reason, we are encouraging early registration and fee payment to secure admittance," says Fitterer.

Registration forms are available from Fitterer, who can be reached at (701) 231-6220 or by e-mail at sfittere@ndsuext.nodak.edu . The workshop fee is $80 per person and must be received with a completed registration form by Friday, Jan. 7.

Checks should be made payable to the NDSU Extension Service. The fee covers two refreshment breaks, the noon meal and resource materials. Return registration forms and fees to Scott Fitterer, NDSU Department of Plant Sciences, Fargo, ND 58105-5051.

All workshop participants should make their own lodging arrangements. The Ramada Plaza Suites has offered a room rate of $69 for two double beds, pending room availability. To receive this rate, participants must call the Ramada Plaza Suites at (701) 277-9000 and say they are attending the workshop.
