Dairy Management Improvements Highlight Annual Cow College

Information on reproduction, management and waste-handling for dairy herds will be highlights of the North Dakota Dairy Cow College.

Sessions will be held at five sites across North Dakota and are sponsored by the sponsored by the North Dakota State University Extension Service and the American Dairy Association/Dairy Council of the Upper Midwest.

The college will be held as follows:

The day will open with an American Dairy Association district meeting followed by a lunch provided by the ADA/DC. Afternoon sessions will feature Paul Fricke, an extension dairy reproduction specialist with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Fricke will outline key elements in a successful dairy reproduction program. He will also discuss ways producers can manage reproductive disorders.

NDSU Extension Dairy Specialist J.W. Schroeder will discuss North Dakota's Dairy Diagnostic Program and how it can help producers identify management and production improvements that could boost production and profit. Schroeder will also give an update on waste management regulations in North Dakota and discuss how they apply to dairy producers.
