NDSU Schedules Beef Quality Assurance Training Sessions

A series of training sessions has been scheduled for North Dakota beef producers who want to receive certification in the North Dakota Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program.

Producers who want their calves to receive beef quality assurance certification next year must receive training by the end of the year, according to Lisa Lee, beef quality assurance specialist with the North Dakota State University Extension Service.

The sessions will include information on management and herd health techniques that improve beef quality. Emphasis will be given to minimizing damage to beef cuts by giving injections ahead of the front shoulder. The fee for the training sessions is $15.

Training sessions are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. in Hebron at the City Auditorium.
Oct. 18. at 1 p.m. in Beach at a location to be announced.
Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in Rhame at the Legion Hall.
Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Harvey at a location to be announced.
Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Tuttle Senior Citizens’ Center.
Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. in Golden Valley at the Community Center.
Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Gackle at the American Legion.
Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in Minot at the NDSU North Central Research Extension Center.
Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in Dickinson at Stockman’s Livestock.
Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. in Tioga at the American Legion Steakhouse.
Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in Squaw Gap at Squaw Gap Hall.
Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. in Carson at a location to be announced.
Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. in Turtle Lake at a location to be announced.
Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. in Rugby at the Ottertail Meeting Room.
Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in Bottineau at a location to be announced.

Sessions are also tentatively scheduled in northeastern North Dakota and in Ransom, LaMoure, Barnes, Pierce, Burleigh and Golden Valley counties.
