Moore is Recipient of NDSU Harvest Bowl Honor

Delbert G. Moore, rancher and feedlot operator from Forbes, N.D., has been named to receive the 2000 Agri-business award and will be recognized during annual Harvest Bowl activities at North Dakota State University Nov. 3 and 4.

Moore is a partner with his brother and nephew in the ranch and feedlot operation known as Glenn W. Moore and Sons, which was established by his grandfather in 1912. He is a 1954 graduate of NDSU and also received a master’s degree in animal genetics from Oklahoma State University.

His service to agriculture and the livestock industry has included working with the National Cattlemen’s Association as a director and member of the research and tax committees. He has worked with the Northern Great Plains Section of the Society for Range Management and served on the editorial board of the society’s magazine, Rangelands.

He has held leadership positions in several state and local organizations, including the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, North Dakota Range Advisory Committee, North Dakota Beef Commission, Central Grassland Research Extension Center advisory committee, and the North Dakota Tax Department. He was involved in establishment of the Central Grasslands center and in taxation issues.

He has been awarded the NDSU Agricultural Achievement Award, the Stockmen’s Association life member and Top Hand awards, the NDSU Friend of Extension award, and is a member of the NDSU Bison Athletic Hall of Fame.

In other Harvest Bowl activities, outstanding agriculturists from all North Dakota counties and five counties in northwestern Minnesota will be honored. Also recognized will be NDSU student-athlete recipients of the 2000 Harvest Bowl scholarships and the Robert Lauf Memorial Scholarship. Harvest Bowl scholarship winners are Leah Klabo, Finley, N.D., of the women’s basketball team and football player Clint Gjellstad, Velva, N.D. Receiving the Lauf memorial scholarship is Jane Boeddeker, women’s basketball player from Minto, N.D.

All honorees and scholarship winners will be recognized at the annual Harvest Bowl social and dinner starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at the Fargo Holiday Inn. Honorees will also take part in campus tours on Saturday and will be recognized at the Harvest Bowl football game Saturday afternoon between the NDSU Bison and the University of Northern Colorado.
