Oilseed Days Scheduled at Carrington Dec. 13-14

The third annual Oilseed Days is scheduled for Dec. 13 and 14 at the North Dakota State University Carrington Research Extension Center. Representatives from NDSU, commodity organizations, and private industry as well as farmers will provide production and market information on sunflower, soybean, canola, and flax for oilseed growers and crop advisers.

Each day of Oilseed Days, registration will start at 8:30 a.m., the program will begin at 9 a.m., and the first presentation will be on oilseed economics and marketing.

On Wednesday, December 13, sunflower and soybean topics are planned. Sunflower topics will be presented on Wednesday morning, including NuSun hybrid performance and oil demand, and disease, blackbird, and harvest management. The afternoon agenda includes soybean stand establishment and fertility, weed and disease management, genetically-modified and specialty soybean, and a grower discussion panel.

On Thursday, Dec. 14, canola and flax topics are planned. Canola topics presented Thursday morning will include variety selection and performance and weed, disease, and harvest management. The afternoon agenda includes flax stand establishment, weed and harvest/storage management, and a grower discussion panel.

The NDSU Extension Service in Eddy, Foster, Stutsman, Wells, and Sheridan counties and the Carrington Center are organizing and conducting Oilseed Days. Commodity organizations supporting this event include the National Sunflower Association, N.D. Oilseeds Council, N.D. Soybean Council, and the Northern Canola Growers Association.

A total of seven continuing education credits (CEUs) for Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) have been requested for this educational program.
